MantrĀsana: Praise & Posture
:: a special class integrating mantra and yoga āsana ::
taught by mantra singer Sheela Bringi and yoga teacher Brent Kuecker.
Mantra is used to build mindful awareness, devotion, concentration and inner peace, and is an integral part of Hatha Yoga.
In this class, experience sixty minutes of enlivening physical practice integrating mantra with āsana. The class will open with Sheela teaching the basics of Sanskrit pronunciation and tonality. Brent will teach the physical poses with traditional chakra bija (seed) mantras and sacred deity mantras lead by Sheela. Participants will chant throughout the class. The class will end with a healing live music savāsana and sacred peace mantras. All levels of yoga and mantra practice welcome.

Sheela Bringi has been teaching singing, harmonium and mantra practice to kirtan leaders, yoga teachers, and others for the past ten years. As a performer and composer, she sings and plays a 36-string harp, the harmonium and classical Indian bansuri (bamboo flute). She has performed worldwide in a wide range of venues, including concert halls and universities presenting traditional material, yoga studios leading kirtans and in dance clubs overtop throbbing, bass-heavy beats (she’s toured with Karsh Kale, DJ Drez, Dave Stringer, and many others). Brent Kuecker has practiced Yoga in its many aspects for 14 years, and has taught students of all ages and abilities for the last 12 years. His training is in Anusara Yoga and his trainers include Christina Sell, Darren Rhodes, and LA’s own Noah Maze (yogamaze.net). Knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology, Brent’s alignment-based classes create both flexibility and strength. He teaches public classes, workshops, teacher trainings, and mentors Yoga teachers of many styles.
