I’m very excited to be teaching this course at Loyola Marymount University this Fall, and it’s open to the public!! It begins on Tuesday, Oct 13th and lasts for 5 Tuesdays, 7:30-9:30pm.
We’ll explore the music of Bhakti Yoga, Indian classical music + Nada Yoga, Vedic Chanting, and more.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Sacred Music and Mantra in Yogic Traditions
This course will explore the relevance, importance and practice of sacred music and mantra chanting in various paths of Yoga. Kirtan and Bhajan, the musical forms of Bhakti Yoga, as well as deity mantras and stories, will be introduced. Students will receive training in how to precisely pronounce, chant, sing and lead Sanskrit verses and mantras in traditional Vedic meters/tones and Indian melodies (raga). The instructor will provide an immersion into Indian classical music with guided singing and improvisation. For class assignments, students will incorporate Mantra Yoga and/or sacred music into personal practice (sadhana).
