We’re kicking off the Cultural Caravan’s June Festival with an open-air concert at Festival Plaza in Lafayette! Bring a lunch, a blanket, and your curiosity to Picnic on the Plaza, featuring a live performance by the Global Roots Ensemble—a band that brings together musical traditions from around the world in a deeply personal, joy-filled experience.

Founded and led by Mumbai-born, Boulder-based percussionist and composer Bobby Bringi, the Global Roots Ensemble creates original music at the intersection of modal jazz, Indian ragas, Delta blues, and melodic folk. Their concerts blend enchanting melodies, ancient and modern instruments, storytelling, and improvisation to spark the imagination and dissolve boundaries — between genres, cultures, and people.

This performance features:

• Elden Kelly – fretted and fretless guitars

• Sheela Bringi – bansuri (Indian bamboo flute), harp, harmonium, voice

• John Gunther – saxophones and woodwinds

• Bill McCrossen – acoustic/electric bass, West African stringed instruments

• Bobby Bringi – percussion, storytelling, artistic direction

Audiences have called their concerts “breathtaking,” “simply stunning,” and “a transcendent musical feast.” This event is free, accessible, family-friendly—and part of our proud partnership with Lafayette Arts & Cultural Resources.
