Kirtan: the Yoga of Sound & Singing
Weekend Immersion with Sheela Bringi & Brent Kuecker
Kirtan is a celebration of life, community, and the presence of the divine through music. It is a folk form of joyful call-and-response singing that originated in the Bhakti tradition of Yoga. Kirtan connects us to the Great Goddess and Divine Masculine archetypes in Yoga, as well as to the mysticism and moods of Indian music.
Join us for an in-depth immersion into the art and practice of Kirtan and experience the power of sacred sound. We will journey through ancient 3-tone chanting, Sanskrit pronunciation, the healing modes (ragas) of Indian classical music and the kirtans which arise from these melodies. You will learn to sing and lead mantras and kirtan with power, confidence and ease in your voice and body.
